Vancouver Burlesque Performer: Voodoo Pixie

September 19, 2011

How long have you been performing?

Uhhhh... lets say 3 years?

How did you pick your stage name?

My sister came up with it! She convinced me it was the best idea to pick something that had to do with me! Pixie cause I’m wee and I like Voodoo!! My original idea was Little Starlight Bandersnatch.

 What is your favorite act?

My favorite right now is my Voodoo Queen! I get to wear spooky makeup and seduce boys!!! Is there anything better than male back up dancers!?

What do you like the most about Burlesque?

Fun People!

Where can we find you next?

I'm producing and performing in a horror themed show, alongside Melody Mangler, October 14th at the Wise Hall. Keep updated by checking my (and my sister's) blog Voodoo Fortuna

How long have you been performing?

I have been performing Burlesque for little over 4 years now.

How did you pick your stage name?

Well that is a funny story! I was walking back from taking the Becoming Burlesque class and I was thinking of what I wanted for my stage name.  I was running many names through my head.  I thought that since I am somewhat of a metal chick, I would use that so i started rambling off a bunch of names in my head but nothing seemed to stand out.  Then I w...

How long have you been performing?

I’m a veteran! Eight years under my garter belt!

How did you pick your stage name?

It was originally my silly Karaoke name but it slowly and surely became part of my Burlesque persona. I’m known for the occasional comedic number where I rewrite the hits! My favorites are Dream a Wet Dream of Me, and Hymens are a Girls Best Friend.

What is your favorite act?

Its always changing! My passion lies in constantly creating the next big number! My current favorite i...

How long have you been performing?

I was a graduate of the very first Becoming Burlesque class back in June of 2006!!

How did you pick your stage name?

I knew I wanted my name to be Violet because I’m OBSESSED with the color purple! I was having abit of trouble figuring out a surname, when I was talking to my Mom about the class, and she immediately suggested Violet Femme! We’re both big Violent Femme fans so I knew it was the perfect suggestion!!!

What is your favorite act?

How Long Have you Been performing?

Forever!! I've been performing professionally as a theatrical artist since my first summer stock gig in 1988 (at the Northern Lights Playhouse in Tomahawk, WI), but I've been working as a professional burlesque artist since 2006.

How did you pick your stage name?

I took Jo Boobs' sage advice and thought of words that evoked imagery that I identified with. Being a redhead has been a defining part of my personality for so long that I wanted to include that asp...

Vancouver Burlesque Performer Profile: Bobbi Whiskey

How Long Have you Been performing?

This September will be my 4 year Becoming Burlesque anniversary

How did you pick your stage name?

It's a very obscure refference to a cartoon called Undergrads that used to be on MTV and late night teletoon. "Bobby Whiskey" was a giant talking bottle of booze that one of the other characters hallucinated when he was drunk.

What is your favorite act?

My stalker routine with Eroc and my "Misty Blue" singing number

What do you like the most about Burlesque?

 The com...

Vancouver Burlesque Performer Profile: Roxette Starr

June 10, 2011

How Long Have you Been performing?

I've been performing for only 2 and a half years.

How did you pick your stage name?

With great difficulty.  I went through about 30 before I found Roxette Starr.  I had a top 10 all of which were taken then i started to go through and try to match up names that sounded good together.  I could come up with anything unique.  Finally I thought about what my stage name should say about me.  I thought what about a 'rock star'? Thus Roxette Starr was born, actuall...
